"When you touch one thing with deep awareness,
you touch everything."
- Lao Tzu
Swedish is the most popular type of bodywork in the United States. It involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the bodywork. The benefits of Swedish include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation , decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue is designed to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of bodywork is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. The goal in deep tissue is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.
Walk The Back
Walking on back , also called ashiatsu bodywork, is a centuries-old bodywork technique originally performed by monks; today, this technique is becoming increasingly popular in America. This controlled deep tissue has many benefits. If you’ve ever heard of Swedish , ashiatsu is somewhat like that – only much deeper and more penetrating than that performed by the hands. Because the body work done can be performed at a much deeper level than through traditional hand bodywork, clients can see benefits much more quickly than they otherwise might.
In a four-hands bodywork, two therapists work on one client, often using synchronized moves. A four-hands can be like experiencing two full bodywork at the same time. When two therapists and four hands hit your body, your mind reacts differently. At first you might find yourself trying to keep track of the therapists, where each one is and what each one is doing, struggling to keep it all in a very logical order in your head. But very quickly your brain realizes it’s not sure who is doing what, and gives up control. This is a powerful treatment for anyone who has a hard time letting go during treatments.
Hot Stone Massage
This treatment helps relieve tension, eases muscle stiffness, and increases circulation. How? Hot stone therapy promotes healing by targeting the deeper layers of muscle through the use of heated stones. Combined with regular bodywork, this treatment delivers a wealth of benefits. Warm and soothe your body with this specialized, unique bodywork. Whether you’re looking to help ease chronic muscle tension or just completely relax, hot stone
